GATE OF THE VILLA

It is located on the western edge of the city, close to the Heart of Mary Street and above the street Detrás de los Corrales.

Its name is due to it could be the most important gate of a core would not have the title of town until the early sixteenth century. It is the only medieval gate that keeps the same face that when it was built, opened on a stairway formed by an arch and a lintel with granite stonework. Above rises a platform composite of two blind arches paired . Inside a space, vaulted in brick, which leads to a new arc also pointed of granite and from which you come to another enclosure covered in the same way, in which the chapel of San Antonio is observed. Upon entering the interior of the chapel we will find an altar on which there is a small baroque altarpiece in whose niche appears the image of San Antonio de Padua.
